Township Building Requirements

As of July 7, 2004 the Township Board of Supervisors adopted the statewide building code -- Uniform Construction Code (UCC). Along with the UCC, the Township also has in effect a Fire Suppression Ordinance that pertains to all new construction of a structure or dwelling and all new additions or structural alterations that represent 1,000 square feet or more of gross floor area as defined in the International Building Code. Such structures shall be equipped with a fully operational Fire Suppression System throughout the existing structure and any new additions. Additions or alterations to an existing sprinklered structure shall be sprinklered no matter the square footage of the addition or alteration.

The entire text of the ordinance can be viewed at the Township building.

If you are planning a project, call the Zoning Administrative Officer to see if a permit is required. Application permit forms are available at the Township Building.

Each application must be accompanied by a plot plan and three copies of specifications and plans drawn to scale.

Fences: Fences are subject to township ordinance, and a permit must be obtained before work is started.
